About Us
The Society for Handicapped Citizens of Medina County, Inc (SHC) has been providing services to individuals with disabilities and their families since 1953. The SHC is The Arc of Medina County. The agency provides an array of services with emphasis on helping individuals with disabilities maximize their full potential as members of the community.
Mission Statement
The SHC, The Arc of Medina County, partners with individuals with disabilities and their families to provide a full range of services to assist them in living a quality life in their chosen community.
The Arc of Medina County
As The Arc of Medina County, SHC advocates for human rights, personal dignity and community participation of individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. We are able to facilitate this through legislative and social action, information and education and with the support of dedicated family members, friends, interested citizens and professionals in the disability field.
Benefits of SHC Membership
As a member of SHC, you will receive SHC’s bi-monthly newsletter—The Bright Spot, organizational governing powers through voting at meetings, a support system for families of people with disabilities, contact with others interested in services for people with disabilities and membership in The Arc.
