Employment

If you would like the opportunity to become more involved in your community, to share your time and/or talents and to gain a sense of pride and accomplishment from working with others, then SHC would like to talk with you! The following opportunities are currently available:

Direct Care Staff:  The direct care worker works with, trains and provides active treatment, and assistance for the client in the assigned area and in accordance with each client?s Interdisciplinary Habilitation Plan (IHP) and plan of care, and within the parameters of the policies and procedures of SHC and the program service department.  (Duties may vary with caseload or shift assignment).

 

1st Shift positions available ranging from 8 to 24 hours which include every other weekend off.

 

       Weekday shifts are typically 4 hours  (6a to 10a) and weekend shifts  8 hours(6a to 2p)

 

2nd shift positions available ranging from 8 to 24 hours which include every other weekend off.

 

        Weekday and weekend shifts are typically 8 hours (2p to 10p)

 

3rd shift positions available ranging from 8 to 16 hours which include every other weekend off.

 

        Weekday and weekend shifts are typically 8 hours (10p to 6a)

Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of our agency. Volunteers helped to start SHC/The Arc and have kept us going and growing since 1953!  There are volunteer opportunities for individuals of all ages, however those volunteering at camp must be at least 16 years of age and those volunteering in the group homes should be at least 18 years of age.  Share your time and talent with us as a volunteer at Camp Paradise, assist with activities in the residential program, Special Olympics, help with newsletter mailing, serve on a committee, or work on special projects.  Click on one of the following links for a volunteer application:

Contributing to SHC/The Arc helps individuals in our community with disabilities.  Thanks to our wonderful supporters we are able to provide a strong array of services.  Each donation helps to make an impact.  Find out how you can make a difference or See our current list of needs. 

Membership

We all have different talents. We all lead busy lives. By pooling our time and talents we are able to have a strong voice and assure persons with disabilities have an opportunity to lead full lives in our community! Please consider joining the SHC! 

As a member of the SHC you will receive

  • Organizational governing powers through voting at meetings
  • A support system for families of persons with disabilities
  • Networking opportunities with others who are interested in services for people with disabilities
  • Membership in The Arc
  • Members, their unmarried children and grandchildren are eligible to apply for the H.O.P.E. scholarship.
