Specialized babysitter training teaches teens skills to care for children with special needs

SHC, the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities and The American Red Cross have developed a specialized babysitting training program to prepare babysitters to care for children with developmental disabilities.  The two-day class will take place on Saturdays, August 9, and August 16, 2014, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at SHC’s Camp Paradise Lodge(8/9) and SHC's Office Training Room(8/16), 4283 Paradise Rd., Seville, OH 44273.  Registration is $85 per participant.  Click here for registration info….


2nd Annual Golf Outing

Make the shot, make the difference! Join SHC on Mon., August 18 at Medina Country Club for SHC's 2nd Annual Golf Outing. Registration starts at 10 a.m.  Golfing will begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start and follow a scramble format.

Camp Paradise

Are you thinking about summer vacation? Come to Camp Paradise for a summer of excitement, outdoor adventure and friendship! SHC/The Arc of Medina County has another exciting summer camp program planned for you this year.

Camp Paradise provides our campers with a variety of activities ranging from creative arts like music and art therapy to sports, outdoor adventures, swimming, wagon rides and bonfires. Eight themed weeks are filled with games, crafts, music, sports, and entertainment for youth and adult campers with developmental disabilities.

Ombudsperson hired to assist individuals with disabilities and their families in Medina County

SHC/The Arc of Medina County and the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities announce the hiring of Michelle Kipfstuhl to provide the services of an ombudsperson to assist Medina County individuals with disabilities and their families. Read more here...


Inclusive Dance at Dancing Wheels

Dancing Wheels is a professional, physically integrated dance company uniting the talents of dancers both with and without disabilities. All classes are inclusive and welcome students of all abilities.  Classes begin September 7, and run monthly.  Click here for more information.


Free Prescription Assistance Program for All Ohio Residents

The Ohio Drug Card is free statewide prescription assistance program that offers free drug cards to all Ohio residents. The program provides discounts on both brand and generic medications with an average savings of around 30 percent. The program has no restrictions to membership, no income requirements, no age limitations and there are no applications to fill out. Everyone is eligible to receive savings!

Ohio Legal Rights Is Now Disability Rights Ohio

Ohio Legal Rights (LRS) has changed to a non-profit corporation with a new name: Ohio Disability Rights Law and Policy Center, doing business as Disability Rights Ohio. Their mission is to advocate for the human, civil and legal rights of people with disabilities in Ohio. Disability Rights Ohio will replace LRS as Ohio's Protection and Advocacy system and Client Assistance Program by October 1, 2012.
